Anti-TIP Project Grants in Armenia
The U.S. Embassy announces the recipients of the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Bureau (INL) Trafficking in Persons (TIP) projects in Armenia for 2013-2014:
American Corners Armenia Meet for 2-Day Workshop
Armenia, Yerevan IRC staff along with IRO Karen Hartman, ran the quarterly, two-day American Corners staff workshop at AC Gyumri May 3 -4.
Armenian forces train in Germany for Kosovo mission
On April 29, 38 Armenian military personnel from the Armenian Peace Keeping Brigade traveled to Germany for 3 weeks of training in preparation for their upcoming deployment to Kosovo.

U.S. Ambassador Meets with Chief of the Armenian Police
U.S. Ambassador John Heffern met with Armenian Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan on April 25. They discussed the upcoming mayoral elections in Yerevan, ongoing police reforms, and human rights issues.

Possible Demonstrations on Election Day
The U.S. Embassy informs U.S. citizens in Armenia that the municipal elections in Yerevan will be held on Sunday, May 5. Polling stations will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. U.S. citizens should be mindful of the possibility that small crowds may gather near polling stations throughout the day. We remind U. S. citizens that even peaceful gatherings can turn confrontational and possibly escalate into violence without warning.

One Day Without Shoes
The embassy staff joined a world movement “One Day Without Shoes”, on April 16 to raise awareness of the children in the world who don’t have proper shoes. The ambassador, Mrs. Heffern and staff came to work barefoot and heard a presentation by the Paros Foundation, a giving partner to TOMs shoes in Armenia.

Kansas Army National Guard leads “Train the Trainer” event
Four members of the Kansas Army National Guard trained key personnel within the Armenian Army, Police, and group of civilian De Miners April 2-12. These key Armenian personnel will continue the de mining training with their subordinates throughout the country.

Hollywood Non-Stop a big hit in Gyumri
In collaboration with the U.S. Embassy, State Youth Orchestra of Armenia played at the State Drama Theatre in Gyumri on April 10, as part of their "Hollywood Non-Stop" tour, which included concerts in Yeghegnadzor and Artashat.
