February 4, 2005
Today, at the Armenia Marriott Hotel, U.S. Ambassador John Evans, and USAID Mission Director Robin Phillips launched U.S. Embassy Armenia's new web site.
The new web-site includes features such as:
- The "Latest News" section on the front-page updated several times a week highlighting recent Embassy events;
- The Internet's first fully searchable assistance database in Armenian, allowing visitors to learn about U.S. Government development initiatives by typing in a type of project (for example "Education"), or by region, marz, and even their villages name;
- A live feed from of the "Washington File" updated every few seconds around the clock, featuring U.S. foreign policy news about the region;
- A searchable database in English of all of the Embassy's American Studies reference materials, including videos and DVDs.
The Public Affairs office of the Embassy will continue to update the web site over the next few months, translating the majority of posted content and making the entire site searchable in Armenian.
Along with the Ambassador and Mr. Phillips, representatives from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Defense Coordination, Peace Corps, and project directors from the State Department and USAID, attended and answered project specific questions.
